3M™ 990 Overhead Ionizer

The 3M&trade 990 Overhead Ionizer is designed to neutralize static charge on nonconductive objects and work surfaces in an electronics manufacturing environment. It is intended to function as a stand alone device. The 990 Overhead Air Ionizer is not intended to replace proper grounding of personnel. The product is designed for indoor use only and has not been tested or proven safe for other uses.

The 3M™ 990 Overhead Ionizer is a solution to neutralizing static over a benchtop area. The 990 Overhead Ionizer provides consistent static control coverage without occupying valuable workspace. The 990 emits steady-state DC positive and negative ions that provide fast discharge with minimum airflow. Each fan has four emitter points that ensure a balanced mixture of ionized air to eliminate field-induced charges. The unit chassis is made of aluminum coated with white epoxy powder, that serves as a housing for the 990Æs two two-speed fans with open-cell foam filters at the inlets. The 990 contains a Green LED that illuminates to indicate power is on and a red LED that illuminates when there is a power supply failure.
